Work packages

This work package covers all the management activities to address the project objectives on time and within budget.
Coordination issues will include contractual, legal and administrative aspects.
The objectives of the project management work package are:

  • Ensure the effective management of the project within time and budget constraints at high quality level.
  • Coordinate project partners to collaborate in synergy and maintain active communication with the EC.
  • Coordinate a rich interest group (academic and industrial) established in WP7.
    The Project management’s activities coordinated by REPLY will be supported by the Fluently consortium to assess and
    consolidate the project’s progress from the scientific, technological, financial and ethical perspectives.


This task deals with the administrative progress of the project and monitors the individual partners’ responsibilities.


The project manager will be REPLY (MM3), which is responsible to manage the financial issues of the project through financial management reportssent by ALL partners(MM1)


IRIS (MM3) will be responsible to manage data and activities carried out by the project consortium, ensuring a strong
commitment to comply with the ethical principles and the applicable EU

WP2 – Industrial use cases analysis and Fluently ontology design

Definition of the manufacturing practises pertaining to the targeted industrial value chains.

  • Description of safety measures, regulation and statistics about potential risks for the operator.
  • Modelling and measurement of physical and cognitive loads associated to process tasks.
  • Structuring the human-based decision-making process during the working routine and capturing the cooperation tasks
    with teammates.
  • Development of the Blueprint where locations, stakeholders, and tasks are comprehensively mapped.
  • Building a database of knowledge relying upon product/process/equipment ontology which will constitute the basis
    to develop a metalanguage.

This WP focuses mainly on the Fluently unit design, engineering and integration.

  • Definition of Fluently sensors, selection and interface integration into the device.
  • Design of Fluently device’s electrical schematic, PCB and mechanical enclosure.
  • Design of control architecture, development of communication protocols and low- and high-level software modules.
  • Selection of test bench commercial HW for sensors and logic integration and Fluently software testing.
  • Fluently industrial engineering and integration in wearable strap and robotic systems (H- and R-Fluently)

WP4 – AI/AE models development and HW/SW architecture

This WP focuses on AI/AE ML models development/training/personalization and execution strategies.
Design of AI/AE models and HW/SW architectures to support both centralized and decentralized processing.

  • Development of a data fusion physical architecture supporting data collection/storage/exchange/inferring.
  • Definition of edge computing strategy to improve response times/save bandwidth and cloud-based data flow.
  • Model training and adaptation logics for the Robo-Gym and the industrial full-scale pilot.
  • Personalization of ML models to support human-robot teamwork.

This work package will address the overall development process of the Robo-Gym acquaintance, dexterity and application areas, from the technical specification to the ramp-up and validation.
This WP relies upon the use case scenarios (WP2) to define the Robo-Gym specifications and objectives.
The Robo-Gym will consist of three training areas (Sec. 1) to be developed and built during the first half of the project together with a set of service portfolio and a governance structure.

WP6 – Fluently demonstration

The focus of WP6 is to demonstrate Fluently’s benefits in manufacturing applications, its scalability to complex operating
scenarios, its technology transferability to different industrial segments. The demonstration will prove:

  • The feasibility of Fluently capabilities in several operating contexts.
  • The ability to exploit several process strategies while ensuring quality KPIs.
  • The enhancement of human cooperation and teaming with robotics in productivity, sustainability and safety

Fluently outlines a novel paradigm in the Ethical Manufacturing with a focus on robotics and AI/AE. A strategic plan for exploitation of the results of the project in the targeted manufacturing industries within 3 to 5 years after the conclusion of. the project will be coordinated by IRIS in cooperation with related EU Technology Platforms in the Made in Europe and Robotics.
Project results will be disseminated among researchers via technical committees/working groups, conferences, articles in journals and in special issue academic journals and, among industry via seminars, workshops trade exhibitions and demonstrators

The dissemination and exploitation work aims at:

  • Ensuring proper scientific and industrial dissemination of the project achieved results.
  • Developing and updating plans for exploitation in the EU robotics and smart manufacturing applications.
  • Supporting networking and scalability via the Industrial Interest Group and Scientific Advisory Board.
  • Strengthening the knowledge sharing in EU industrial ecosystem and standardizing procedures in the targeted industrial
    value chains.

WP8 – Ethics requirements
