Irida Labs is an embedded Vision AI software leader, with more than 10 years of experience in Computer Vision and AI at the Edge.
The idea of Irida Labs was conceived by the three cofounders, Vassilis Tsagaris – Nikos Fragoulis – Christos Theocharatos, during their PhD studies in Digital Image Processing and Embedded Systems, who decided to join their forces and solve realworld problems using Computer Vision. Today, our growing team counts 25 talented Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Embedded Software engineers, with a common mission to help companies around the world develop scalable visionbased solutions.
Holds a Ph.D. degree in Computer Vision. He is one of the three co-founders of Irida Labs, acting as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Information Officer (CIO), responsible for the daily operations of the company, while being in charge of information technology strategy and implementation to support the enterprise goals. He has also served as the chief science officer (CSO) of the company responsible for research, development and new computer vision technologies. He brings about 20 years of experience in algorithm development and R&D management in computer vision, combined with academic research and teaching. Prior to founding IRIDA Labs, he has worked as a researcher or project manager in EU and National projects in the ICT domain, both in the academic and the public sector. Dr. Theoharatos was the technical coordinator of the White’R (FP7), Borealis and Symbionica (H2020) FoF projects, amongst others, on behalf of Irida Labs. He has published more than 50 Journal and Conference papers, and 4 book chapters. His main research interests include pattern recognition, computer vision and machine/deep learning. His current activities include product/project technical administration and research in ICT field.
